About Us |
Our family has been making salsa for loved ones in Portland, Oregon for over two decades. After years of listening to everyone tell us that we, “should bottle it and put it on the shelves,” we thought, “Well, why not?” So we’re moving from small scale to grand scale, one step at a time. We are dedicated to spreading the word about our products any way we can and saving you from the bland, average salsas currently in stores and restaurants. |

The ultimate goal is to simply share these awesome blends of salsa with anyone and everyone wanting to enjoy them. Once you give Green Card Salsa a try you’ll never be able to settle for that other stuff again. |
The idea for the company began when Trenton Saenz offered authentic flavorful salsa, derived from a long shared family recipe, to friends while attending college at Oregon State University. It’s sudden popularity amongst students and professors prompted Trenton to enter and subsequently win an annual, university-wide business competition for Best Original Sustainable Business.
Relocated to Portland in 2009, Trenton continued to expand on the idea of creating a company that would provide quality salsa not only to friends or family, but to people with distinguished taste as well. Adding five additional flavors as well as several seasonal recipes, Trenton has expanded a once small idea into Green Card Salsa and greencardsalsa.com.
One bite and you can taste the passion that went into making this quality product. Don’t believe us, try one and see.
The base recipe for our red salsas has remained unchanged for generations, traveling with the Saenz family, passed from father to son, as it migrated from El Salvador to Mexico and eventually across the border into Texas and now Oregon. Through the generations the recipe has taken on characteristics of every environment, pulling flavors from unique local ingredients, while still maintaining an authentic Central American essence. We are proud that we have been able to maintain the traditional elements of the original recipe, using it as the foundation upon which we built additional recipes, both red and green. We willingly provide you and your family a convenient and tasty way to explore our heritage, by giving you a “ticket across the border,” one flavor at a time. |
